Where Are They Now?

A lot can happen in 50 years. Imagine keeping track of 600+ classmates who have scattered far and wide wherever school, work, and retirement may have taken them since high school. According to the Class of 1969 database, over 40% of the class now resides outside of California.

We have classmates in 41 states and seven foreign countries. The most popular destinations? Oregon with 30 transplants; Arizona with 23; followed by Colorado, Washington, and Texas with about 15 each. Our class’s reach extends from Alaska to Florida and around the globe from the Philippines to Japan, Mexico, Argentina, the United Kingdom, Norway, and Sweden.

How do we know? A small team of volunteers maintains the Class of 1969 database so we can send everyone information about class reunions. It helps when classmates confirm their contact information online, but if they don’t, the search team uses online search tools and social media to track down “lost” classmates and send test mailings to tentative addresses until a probable address can be established.

The diligent but unsung heroes on the classmate search team include Arleigh Williams, Janet Glenn Yorg, Janet’s husband Steve Yorg, and Sandi Harrington.

The Class of 1969 database currently includes contact information for 550 of our classmates. Another 63 classmates are known to be deceased. That leaves only 9 names for which we have no information at all, and search tools and test mailings have not yielded a likely address:

Alan Couste
Alice Davis
Marie Geary
Scot Hutchison
Cathy Jacoby
Sue Mittelstead
Janet Morrison
Kathy Riordan
Steven Smith
